About Johan Jong
- Gegevens
Johan Jong is a European New Age composer/musician. He was born in Berkhout, a small village, about 40 km north of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He has been interested in music for as long as he can remember. At the age of 7 he went to music school and from the age of 9 he followed guitar lessons. When he was 13 years old, he joined a band that was formed by students of the music school. For 18 years he was one of the two guitarists of the band and along the way became the second vocalist, learned to play synthesizer and picked up a little bass guitar. During that 18-year period the band mainly played covers but also played and recorded their own songs. During this period Johan learned a few things about composing, arranging and recording.
Johan left this band to join a semi-professional band (with his sister Wilma) that broke-up after playing succesfully for a year. After auditioning with a few professional allround coverbands, he was asked by his brother Marco to join a new rockcoverband. In this band Johan became the lead vocalist. After ten years Johan decided it was time to leave. He had been playing on stage for 30 years and it was time for a change.
Johan then decided to combine his main interests: music, spirituality, encaustic art and computers. He bought some recording software and started composing music based on the theory of the Swiss mathematician Hans Cousto. This theory (The Cosmic Octave) teaches that frequencies in nature can be linked and can have an effect on body and mind. His songs are released worldwide.
The music Johan composes and produces, can best be placed in the category New Age. The main subcategories: meditation, relaxation, revitalisation, inspiration. Allthough until now his CD's are intstrumental, he will probably also add vocals on future recordings.
Fragments of his music can be downloaded on this website.
